Too bad I don't have the hardcopy of MidWeek. Instead, I tried searching all over the place on www.midweek.com's TV listings. The only "coins" shows I could find airing between 3/24 and 4/5 are coin collecting shows on ShopNBC.
EDIT - Just bought my copy of Kokiku. Heaven's Coins "1" will air starting 3/27 at 8:00pm, and will run 12 episodes.

Does anyone know if they originally aired Heaven's Coins twice? Whatever happened to the contractual agreements between Kiku and the Japanese broadcasters that said they can only air series twice and then they have to send them back? If they have already aired Heaven's Coins twice, then is this a new, more flexible approach the broadcasters are taking, realizing that they have a problem?

One more mis-info from Kokiku... Gomen nasai!
I figured it would air on 3/27 since Kokiku said episode >>>2<<< would be airing 4/3. So right now, I'm assuming Kokiku went lo-lo and messed around with the episode numbers. *sigh* Nooooooori-PPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!! *sob*

Thanks for the update Sansei! I've been looking at all the channels for the airing dates of this drama, but I couldn't find anything, so I just assumed that those lucky digital cable people were the only ones who could watch it. Thank god that KIKU's gonna be airing it. :D
(wow, it's been forever since I last posted, I'm surprised I remembered my password. Not that anyone remembers me anyway, but oh well. =p)

They aired the first series from 9/4/97 -11/27/97 and Zoku Hoshi no Kinka (Heaven's Coins 2) that ended in Feb. 1998. Also they showed the Movie (Heaven's Coins Finale) twice that I can remember; I missed taping the first one and had to wait until they replayed it. They made a new version in 2001 with Mari Hoshino (Kinpachi's daughter Otome on "San Nen B Gumi Kinpachi Sensei") but was not as popular as the original one (not shown in Hawaii on Kiku). So yup, I saw the commercial for it and will be watching it this Sunday! |

Wow, very cool, one of the more prominent members of this board remembers me. \(^o^)/ I think some of the others might remember me from the WOTO 2 & 3 songs that I posted a while back.
Thanks again for the info on the replay of Heavens Coins & the airtime. I almost never read Midweak or watch KIKU nowadays so it's a good thing I check here periodically. Now if only they'd show "Heavens Coins 2," "Blue Bird, "Say You Love Me," "No Way," "A Summer Proposal," "Love on Hold," "The Chef," "Marry Me," "From the heart," & "Heaven Cannot Wait" then I'd be a happy girl. =p |

If this goes over well, which it very likely may, we may be seeing more replays of older, very popular series. I'm sure all the older fans of jdrama's would love to see some of the classics again. It'd be almost nostalgic.
But for me, this is actually my first time watching this drama, as I wasn't even watching jdrama's at the time('97) lol. But this drama's had so much fanfare and I've heard of it mentioned so many times, so I was very pleasantly surprised when kiku announced a replay. I know it'll give a chance for a lot of newer viewers like me to catch this classic. |

I really hope that it's true that they'll be bringing back some of the older dramas back too. *hopes KIKU reads these posts*
I haven't watched "Heavens Coins" myself, because as I was telling someone else, it KIKU aired it after the drama "Say You Love Me" ended at the time. Since SYLM was about a deaf guy and HC was about a deaf girl, it just seemed stupid & cheesy to me and I just didn't want to watch such a cliched plot. Well, I didn't realize that the plots were totally different, as well as the moods of the dramas. I enjoy dark dramas, so I'm glad that they're re-airing HC. |

Wow, glory days.
I remember when this drama first played on KIKU: Big Wedneday, I called it. "Long Vacation" started at 7:30 PM on NGN and "Hoshi no Kinka" was at 8:00 PM. Thank goodness for cable splitters.
I must have seen about a half-dozen performances of "Aoi Usagi" because of this drama; got sick of that tune, actually. "Zoku Hoshi no Kinka" this summer?
As for the next installment of "KIKU Klassic J-dorama" my nominess are:
Kagayake! Rintaro Double Kitchen Aishi.teru to Ittekure Aoi Tori The Chef

that's exactly the same reason i didn't watch Hoshi no Kinka. i used to rag my friend everyday back in high school that the show was stupid, but i never did give it a chance. to retaliate, he used to draw gold coin's on my homework assignments ... hahaha. but, after watching it, i took back everything i said.
anyhow, i second Saburo's last three nominations for repeats ... Aishi-teru to Itte Kure, The Chef, and Aoi Tori.

| Ooh, I 2nd Saburo's request for Double Kitchen. Isn't that the one with Nogiwa Yoko as the mother-in-law from hell? =p Rintaro was good too..I think that was the one with Esumi Makiko, right? I never knew that KIKU played Long Vacation; I guess I missed out on that one the first time around. |
