I watched it. It is pretty good. I'll try to summarize episode 1...
Yada Akiko (HOTMAN, Friends) plays the role of Kitabara Hatsumi. Recently, her mother passed away, forcing her to move in with her dad, Tarou, played by Nagatsuka Kyozo (Tale of Happiness, Midnight Rain). They don't have a really smooth relationship. Tarou is a submarine captain of the Japan Navy, so he is quite the military kind of guy - always standing at attention, and unfortunately having very little time for his family.
Hatsumi works as a nurse at a dental office, owned by Ryouhei (played by Oshio Manabu). His practice isn't doing so hot, so he's trying to drum up new clients and also find ways of cutting costs. He stopped by a bento place to pick up lunch, when he noticed that the proprietor's wife works with him for free (I mean, that's what couples do in a joint-business, right?) So this gives Ryouhei an idea - marry one of the nurses so he doesn't have to pay her. Later in the day, Hatsumi caught his eye. So he asked her a hypothetical question - about her marrying him and work for free. She was totally offended by the idea.
Later in the evening, she meets with her dad. She tells him Ryouhei proposed to her, but she doesn't want to get married. Tarou tells her if he himself would get married, she would have to move out. She asks him if he actually has a fiance, and he says he does (but it's actually a lie!) She's now upset about the idea of him getting married. So later that night over dinner, she tells him she's going to marry Ryouhei. So tomorrow night, she's going to bring him over to the house, so he'd better bring his fiance over as well.
Next thing you see is Tarou begging his collegue, Takashi (played by Musaka Naomasa) to ask the woman at the nearby restaurant to act as his fiance (forgot her name, but she played the "Bride of Kurahara" on Women of the Onsen). At the same time, Hatsumi begs Ryouhei to meet her dad. He finds it quite strange when less than 24 hours earlier she turned him down.
So later that night, everyone meets up at the house for dinner: Hatsumi/Ryouhei, Tarou/fake-fiance, Takashi, and Tarou's mother-in-law Hanako (played by Nogiwa Yoko {Shinsengumi!, Kintaro). Things run so-so.
The next day, Tarou pays a visit at his fake-fiance's restaurant to reimburse her for her troubles. Hatsumi follows him to the restaurant. Seeing him walk into the restaurant, she thinks the relationship is serious. So damn! She must continue her fake relationship with Ryouhei. He agrees to continue being her fiance.
Later that night, Hatsumi and Tarou get into yet another argument. Tarou admits that the woman isn't actually his fiance. But, Hatsumi continues to stick to her story. Tarou, however, is now against the marriage because Ryouhei isn't good for her, in that he has a bad head for business and such.
The next day, Hatsumi and her two other nurse co-workers, meet up with a new client - Hajime. Hajime is a multi-millionare IT tycoon. Upon Hajime's exit from the dental office, he hands Hatsumi his business card, asking her to meet him at a 5-star restaurant for dinner. She meets up with him for dinner. She thought he was somewhat creepy. Tarou later calls her cell phone asking her why she didn't let him know she wasn't coming home for dinner. But she didn't tell Tarou she went to dinner with another man.
So that's basically what happened. The story seems to have a lot of good possibilities. There are some conclusions I'm already drawing up about Hatsumi's situation... A struggle between Ryouhei and Hajime - maybe one of those "I can't decide" kind of thing?

Rats! I forgot one other thing in episode 1... Hatsumi runs into her childhood male friend. I forgot his name. Supposedly he's a very smart guy, and Tarou really likes him. The guy looks up to Tarou because he's in the Navy and everything. So she brings him back to the house to meet up with Hanako. Tarou sees him and is quite happy to see Hatsumi with him. So I guess that complicates things even more, now that there's three guys.

Her childhood friend is the same guy who played the guy who tried to use Sae in Orange Days, right? He looks familiar.

You're probably right. I'm more likely mixing up him with the character Tarou in FIGHT (one more week!!!!!)

I don't think they (Yada/Oshio) are married, Sansei. But, I did hear about another actor, Yamada Takayuki(Sekachu-drama version) has a 4 month old child...he is paying for child support but doesn't plan to marry the girl. It was rumored that he was also seeing Ayase Haruka (Sekachu-drama version) on the side while seeing this other girl (the one who had his child). |

i've enjoyed this show, a lot of fluff not too much substance though. but at least its a new show!!! does the dr. usually play this type of role? i wasn't too impressed with him, and they don't seem to have too much chemistry on the show (although they're married in real life).
i hope kiku continues to bring in new shows. maybe something with takenouchi yutaka or sorimachi takashi...please.
or bring back the good ole hattori hanzo, yagyuu shows. would love to see chiba shinichi again. |
