Here's the line-up this year...I think they may have been a bit desperate...GORIE (Garage Sale Gori as a cheerleader) is on the red side...I think a lot of people may watch the K-1 match with Bobby Oregon (sp?) and Akebono.

Hmm, let's see:
In: Matsutoya Yumi Watanabe Misato (!) "Matsuura Aya & DEF.DIVA" (interesting choice of wording, enabling Ayaya to keep her string of appearances intact) Ito Yuna (see you at Aki-no-no!)
Out: Orange Range nobodyknows (HOORAY!) W Exile (!) That hapa opera singer
By the way, Gorie took off his skirt at the press conference. You have been warned~! |

I know!! They showed "her" showing "her" panty which had "Kohakuutagassen" embroidered on it!! I'm glad Def Tech (they sing the drama "Brother Beat" theme) will be on and also D-51 (they sang the theme for the movie "Always 3-chome no yuuhi)
Have a nice weekend!! |

Yuna Ito's parents and we are all very happy and thrilled about her being chosen to be on Kouhaku. Yuna's mom wants to put a huge monitor at the restaurant and try to watch Kouhaku LIVE. It will be wonderful to see her on Kouhaku.
Kat, have you seen Yuna's Contact lense cleaner "Pureye" commercial yet? Very nice song and she looks so beautiful in it.

| I really hope Kiku will show this, I can't wait. Especially for Yuna Ito, I wonder if Hawaii knows that we have another famous person besides Jasmine and Camile. |

More information on the 56th event... Found out who the hosts are:
This year, unlike any other Kouhaku in the past, four MCs will together co-host the show:
- Mino Monta, a free-lance MC who hosts 9 different television programs in a week - Yamane Motoyo, a veteran of NHK - Nakama Yukie, actress (probably to push Koumyou ga Tsuji) - Yamamoto Koji, actor (NHK will be showing a one-episode Shinsengumi special starring Koji on January 3 JST)

Oh god, you said it. It's really annoying how Kuraki Mai's gonna be performing "Love, Day After Tomorrow," Natsukawa Rimi's still riding on that damn "Nada Sou Sou," Shimatani Hitomi with "amairo no kami no otome." Really looking forward to the m-flo & Wada Akiko collabo as well as the Def Tech performance though. |

Agreed. Agreed. Agreed.
Actually, I've never seen a live performance of "Love, Day After Tomorrow" but I know Shimatani can do better than a cover and I believe NHK has the hex on Natsukawa, so far as Kohaku is concerned.
As a long-time fan of Musume and Company, let me say that the upcoming spectacle of "Love Machine" being performed by 19 (yes, NINETEEN) gals, representing seven (7) generations of members past and present... does NOT fry my burger. 'Nuff said. |

I never saw her perform "Love..." either, but it's not as if she didn't release any good songs this year. Same goes for Shimatsni and Natsukawa because they released albums as well. I guess Kohaku is going for the "nostalgic" songs for the ratings, but I would've preferred if they didn't rely on the same songs throughout the years.

Damn, 19 girls? Are any of the old school girls coming back to perform? Haven't kept up with the Momusu lineup since Konno, Niigaki, and those other 2 girls showed up, so I have no idea who's in it anymore.
Oh, and I forgot to add Kouda Kumi to my list of performances I'm looking forward to. Here's hoping she'll shake up the Kohaku stuffiness with her skankiness. :P I'm betting that she does "Cutie Honey" or at least part of it. |

Nikkan Sports reported that Hosokawa Takashi and Sakamoto Fuyumi will be the leadoff hitters for the Kohaku. I'm not sure when the last time enka began the show; the eighties, perhaps?
And SMAP is going to CLOSE the show, which means that Kitajima Saburo is gonna be pissed again right? |

| this year Kohaku was kind of a weird program, then again, I was switching (double screen TV, but needed 3 or 4 screen one...) between K-1 Pride, Dynamite and Kohaku. BTW, Yuna Ito was on Record Taisho, Kohaku and CDTV special. |
