I'm listening to Yuna too! She's coming out with another single and it's for the Nana sequel (I'm assuming). I've already got that one pre-ordered! |

I am a big fan of Natsukawa Rimi. My favorite cds are Minami Kaze and Kaze no Michi. Her 2 newest cds, Singles Collection Vol. l and Yakaji no Ne, contains many of her more popular songs, some sung in uchinaguchi.

I mostly listen to Japanese music, so I have tons of favorite artists. My most listened to artists in the last 3 months, according to last.fm, are probably Angela Aki, Utada Hikaru, Bonnie Pink, Cocco, Yui, Sakamoto Maaya, Teshima Aoi, and Nakashima Mika.
Much like Yuna, who is also one of my favorites, Angela also lived in Hawaii a few years back! In fact, she attended the same school as me at the time(Iolani), and even took piano lessons from the same teacher. Although she was already much older at the time, and I was still just a little kid, it's still pretty cool, especially now that she's hit it so big in Japan. I was playing back one of my dad's old recordings of my recitals, and she was one of the students playing. She was already so talented back then.. |

We go to Yuna's parents'place at least once a week and we stay there for at least 4 hours when we visit. Yuna's songs are being played always. We watched Kohaku Uta Gassen and Record Taisho with them.
I'm a huge fan of Yuna chan and her parents :D

I didn't know Angela went to Iolani. That's so cool! I only have her Final Fantasy XII single "Kiss Me Goodbye". What else do you recommend? Oh, and I'm also listening to some older jpop from the 90's like Nakayama Miho and Wands, KAN, etc... |

wow who is this yuna? i've never heard of her. i gotta check it out. i know that that one girl from coconut musume used to live in hawaii. that's cool...i wish i knew her
so seems everyone listens to japanese music, that's super cool! i thought i was the only weird one.
kei, the only album i have from rimi is okinawa no kaze. i love that album and i listen to it over and over.
so where do you guys get your music from? do you download them or buy them? where do you buy them from? later on i'll post a song that i got from this singer in japan, i have to ask her if it's okay. i don't know if she's famous or not, but her songs are super nice.
you know which song i got stuck in my head? the song from that "i want to be happy" show....suger - sunflower i think. i gotta get that song! =) |

Angela Aki's Home album is great! It contains Kiss Me Good-Bye, as well as hits like This Love, Home and Kokoro Senshi.
Sugar's Colors 4 Wishes album contains the song Himawari (Sunflower), but it is also out as a single. Sugar's Double Rainbow, the group's other Japanese album is also good.
I usually get my Japanese cds from yesasia.com or annyoung.com, if not from relatives in Japan. |

Yeah, Home is such a great album. Probably my favorite album of the year, alongside Hikki's Ultra Blue. But in the end, I think I may actually pick Home over UB. Angela's voice is amazing, alongside her piano skills.
Locally, you can get Jmusic from either Book Off! located in Shirokiya, although they're usually a bit behind the latest releases, and Hakubundo right near Daiei on Kapiolani Blvd, though they're more expensive, I think.
They used to sell Japanese music at Tower, which was so convenient, but it seems they've stopped updating their Japanese catalog a few years ago, sadly. Plus, I've heard recently that all 3 tower stores in Hawaii have been sold by the owner. I wonder what this means for all the avid Tower customers.
I usually order my Japanese music online from either CDJapan, or if I can find it cheap on ebay. Like I found a Cocco album there for only $5! I haven't been able to find anything else nearly as cheap since then though.. CDJapan's awesome also. They're not cheap, and probably charge about as much as you'd pay for the CD in Japan, but they're extremely fast, and they're always really neat and careful with your shipment. They probably have the most extensive collection of jpop/japanese music you can find anywhere. Yes, even more than yesasia. |

Just ordered Yuna's "Heart"! Plus like five other albums including Shiina Ringo's latest and Koda Kumi's "Black Cherry". Can't wait to receive them, and I've been awaiting the release of Yuna's album for so long now.
I'm trying, desperately, to avoid downloading Heart, but I may have to give in at some point.

Almost all of my cd's are Japanese...mostly from the 90's. I miss those mini cd's they used for singles :( |
